On Saturday 15th May we held a now annual litter pick at the trust. We hosted 34 young people and families out on the water and landside on the tow path collecting an interesting mixture of rubbish including a tv, lots of bottles and cans, a lampshade and the usual shopping trolley pulled from the water! We were fortunate to have the Canal and River Trust loan us some canoes for the pick with their instructor Andy Oughton, and we look forward to having them with us again.

We also took one of our boats (Serenade) out as a support boat which meant we could put big items on the boat to return to the base and provide refreshments at our break in the Basin in Loughborough town centre.

We have now adopted a section of the canal from the Canal and River Trust and will be looking after the litter collecting as and when we can over the year with our young and not so young volunteers! If you are interested in helping with this, please contact Angie at the trust on [email protected]
