We achieved a ‘Commended’ award for the Best Day Out in the 2023 Leicestershire Hospitality & Tourism Awards

At the recent Leicestershire Tourism & Hospitality Awards 2023 at the Leicester Athena, the Peter Le Marchant Trust achieved a ‘Commended’ award in the ‘Best Day Out’ category. This is a brand new category for the Leicestershire Hospitality & Tourism Awards, who were celebrating their 30 year anniversary last night. The ‘Best Day Out’ award was sponsored by Visit Leicester, with all 14 nominees voted by the public, which made the Trust’s nomination even more special.
Foraging Along the Waterways -17th October 2023

Join us for a relaxing boat trip, with a foraging stop off along the canalside with a community herbalist and forager. Learn to identify wild edible plants and their medicinal virtues. On the return, enjoy a herbal tea tasting aboard our canal boat, and exchange some recipes on how to prepare some of the plants foraged. Only £10 per person. Please note: this activity involves steps and rough ground.
Canoe Instruction Session - 16th October

Canoe Instruction Session With a fully qualified instructor, join us for a session in learning the basics of being in a canoe with a trip out on the water. All equipment provided, booking essential as places are limited.
Introduction to Crewing - 17th - 18th October

Join us for a free 2 day course in understanding just what it takes to be a volunteer crew member with us in these introduction sessions. We will be going out on the water, talking about water and fire safety and teaching you the basics of customer care. Please contact Angie on [email protected] to book a place, places are limited.

Afternoon Tea Cruise Aboard Jubilee - September 2023

Enjoy a skippered boat cruise for up to 6 people aboard our new narrow boat, Jubilee. Our Crew will serve Afternoon Tea to your group, at a time to suit, during your trip. Gluten Free/Vegan/Vegetarian options available. Open to the community.

Traditional Canal Art Along the Waterways - 25th September 2023 SOLD OUT!

Enjoy a 4 hour canal boat trip and learn how to paint beautiful waterways flowers on a mug in traditional 'Roses and Castles' canal art style, with professional Heritage Crafter, Kerri. Suitable for beginners. All materials supplied - take your finished piece home at the end of the session. Bring your own lunch to enjoy during the journey. Refreshments included. Only £20 per person.
Festive Sewing Sessions -12th September 2023

Relax! Enjoy a 2½ hour guided sewing session about our boat. Learn how to embroider using a hoop whilst taking in the picturesque views along the canal. All materials supplies, including hoop, thread and materials. Various festive designs - choose on the day. Only £15 per person.

Listen to a fascinating talk explaining the heritage of our canals whilst enjoying a 2½ hour boat trip along our tranquil waterways. Knowledgeable Speaker. Day Trips

We have two day trip boats, Symphony and Serenade, which travel from our base in Loughborough to Zouch or Mountsorrel. Aimed at friendship groups and organisations and running from 10am to 3pm from March to October, we carry up to 26 passengers where you can opt to stop off for lunch at either a pub or bring sandwiches to enjoy during your trip. Please call our office to arrange your trip.
