Young People's Project We have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to develop a Young People’s Hub at the base in Beeches Road, Loughborough. Young volunteers will be able to take part in a range of water-based educational, environmental and heritage projects, gaining new experiences, learning new skills and having fun. While enjoyable, the young people will gain greater confidence, self-belief, and important collaboration skills. We will be rolling out educational, heritage, environmental and creative projects for local young people on the local waterways and at our base in Loughborough. Watch out for exciting updates over the coming months, along with ways you can become involved. ********** LITTER PICK - SATURDAY 15TH MAY START POINT: PETER LE MARCHANT BASE - CANALSIDE MOORINGS, BEECHES ROAD, LOUGHBOROUGH START TIME: 10AM As a Trust, it is important that we encourage our future volunteers to understand all that we do, including looking after our canals and the environment. As part of our new Youth Project Programme, our charity will be conducting a litter pick, setting off from our base on Saturday May 15th starting at 10.00am. We hope to have other organisations coming out with us to pick including the Sea Cadets, SBC paddlers, Loughborough Tornados and Loughborough Students Canoe club. We are looking for walking litter pickers as well as any other organisations already geared up for being out on the water to join us. One of our canal day boats will also be heading out to collect the bags of rubbish and provide hot or cold drinks depending on the weather! If you would like to help out with this or with our youth project in any way, we would love to hear from you!
